Team Driver
What is team driver? Team driving is two drivers in one truck alternating driving and sleeping, allowing the truck to run nearly continuously across long lanes.
Full definition
Team driving doubles a truck's daily miles because while one driver runs HOS, the other rests in the sleeper. Teams typically cover 1,000+ miles per day vs the 500-600 mile cap for solo drivers.
Team freight pays a per-mile premium and is concentrated on time-sensitive lanes: expedited, parcel, just-in-time manufacturing. Husband-wife teams and friend teams are both common ownership models.
For financing, team operations qualify for higher monthly revenue assumptions and often access better truck-financing terms — the same truck generates roughly double the revenue.
