No-Touch Freight

What is no-touch freight? No-touch freight means the driver doesn't load or unload — the shipper and receiver handle all cargo handling, the driver just drives.

Full definition

No-touch freight is a major quality-of-life signal for owner-operators and company drivers. It eliminates lumper fees, dock-work strain, and most of the detention exposure.

Drop-and-hook freight is by definition no-touch. Live-load freight at automated DCs (Walmart, Amazon) often is too. Customer-direct deliveries — especially food service and retail — frequently require driver assist.

Freight rates on no-touch lanes are usually slightly lower because the operational efficiency reduces driver cost; freight rates on driver-touch lanes pay a premium.
